CCTV drains survey uses a little camera that we attach on a guiding line or stick. The flexible guiding line can glide on the depths of your drainage system. The little camera, in turn, would send a live feed to our engineers, showcasing the current state of your pipes.
CCTV drains survey prevents you from the costly harrows of excavation.

Drain Repair MrDrains

Drain Repairs

Here at Mr. Drains, to fix drains, we adhere to the no-dig rule except if a problem would need us to excavate. To repair drains, we either use a no-dig patch repair or a drain relining solution. To take advantage of our solutions, the drain relining solution is the best and more solid fix for faulty pipes.

In no-dig patch repair, we secure a glass fibre mat with epoxy resins to the inside of a damaged pipe. Such repair is guaranteed to last up to 10 years. On the other hand, the drain relining solution is used for intense pipe issues or if you simply want a quick fix but with a lasting solution. Our liners are with a three-part resin hardener and accelerator. It perfectly lines the inside surface of the pipes, leaving no holes and other faulty cracks.

Drain Cleaning and Jetting

For simple and intense drain cleaning, we have numerous ways, but we mostly use the rotary mechanical drain cleaning and high-pressure water jetting.

  • Rotary mechanical drain cleaning – This is an equipment used for rotating a cable. The rotating action removes pipe obstructions, tree roots, and more blockage-causing materials.
  • High-pressure water jetting – A high-pressure water jetting is like using a powerful burst of water to drain your pipes with blockages. It’s a nature-friendly method that doesn’t use any harmful chemicals.

Drain Lining

Drain lining is the act of lining the inside of a drain with the use of a polymer lining. The polymer lining instantly bonds the insides of the pipes and exudes a smooth interior.

Using drain lining services over and over again could ultimately lessen the diameter of the pipe, but it won’t matter much when the daily contents of your pipes flow freely.

To know more about the methods we use for drain lining, refer to section number 3, “Drain repairs.”

Pitch Fibre Drainage Clearance

Pitch fibre type of drainage is an outdated type of pipe that was mostly installed from the 1950s to the early 1970s. If your building or house was built around that time, chances are, your pipes are pitchfibre material.

Pitch fibre drains aren’t ideal as they’re made with inexpensive but dangerous material called tar. Plus, tars can collapse anytime, and if your pitch fibre pipes are a tale as old as time, it’s about to break anytime soon.

Luckily, we specialize in pitch fibre drainage clearance. However, we recommend a thorough restructuring of your whole drainage system if it is made of outdated pitch fibre (tar) material. Why? Tar can corrode, and therefore, your family’s health is at risk if left on its own for some time. In addition to that, the constant fixing and breaking of the pitch fibre drainage system expose human fixers to the easily corroding and dangerous pitch tar.

Blocked Drains Clearance & Drainage Maintenance

There are ways to manage your drainage system and even some household methods to clear clogged drains. If the problems are on the surface, chances are, you’ll find ways to fix it. However, if the pipe issue is complicated and needs a thorough solution, it’s your cue to find a professional to help you out.

However, nothing compares to the expert hands of our engineers and specialists when it comes to taking care of your pipes.

How you come to know about Blocked Drains

Knowing the onset of a faulty drain has its perks. If you’re lucky, the issue is not so skin-deep that you can help drain the blockage yourself. By yourself, you would want to know if your drain is blocked. Below are some strong indications that something is wrong with your drainage system.

  • Stinky smells on your household or building that’s usually hard to pinpoint: Blocked drains stink because the clogging of materials on the pipes are stored there for some time.

  • Slow drainage: If you’re noticing a sluggish flow of water than normal, there is a gaining build-up of blockage on your pipes.

  • Raising water levels: If, after flushing water to your toilet, there is an increase of water level on the bowl, one of your pipes might be clogged.

  • Gurgling noise: If you hear a strange gurgling noise emanating from your drains and plugholes, it could be a sign of blockage. The gurgling noise is due to the trapped air in one of the pipes, indicating that something blocks the free flow of water.

  • When there’s an animal popping out of your toilet: Gone are the days when you thought Australian homes are the only ones plagued with rat’s and snake’s bobbing heads on the toilet seat. This pest phenomenon is more rampant than you think it is. Rats, snakes, and other pests can have access to your drainage system, and when that happens, you’ll need professional help to purge them out of your drain system. If these animals aren’t purged, they could cause diseases.

How to Unblock the Drains

If you’re confident that your drain problem can be handled by your capable hands, then try the following tips as an attempt in de-clogging your drains.

  • Baking soda and vinegar: Mix a solution of 1/3 of a cup of baking soda with 1/3 of a cup of vinegar. After mixing the solution, pour them straight down your sink right away. Keeping the solution for a while loses its potency. Let the solution sit overnight. Stop using the sink for a while. In the morning, flush the solution with hot water.

  • Baking soda and salt: Create an unblocking solution by mixing half a cup of table salt with half a cup of baking soda. Pour the solution slowly down the drain. Leave the solution on without running water for up to 30 minutes. Then, pour boiling hot water down the drain.

  • Boiling water: Boil water in your kettle and thoroughly pour it down your sink slowly. Wait for a couple of seconds before pouring boiling water again. The hot water would dissolve the easy to erode clogs like shampoo or soap clogs. For solid clogs like hair or rock, hot water might not work.

  • Pipe cleaning: This is a slightly complicated way of de-clogging your drains. So if you’re not confident about this method, best leave it to the experts. Just in case you want to try pipe cleaning, here it is.

Place a bucket below the U-shaped pipe forming underneath the sink. At this point, close    your faucet. Loosen the slip nuts at both ends of the pipe and remove the pipe. Clean the pipe with any materials that could rid away clogs such as an old toothbrush. Put the brushed contents in the bucket. Wash away with water. Then, put it back again.

  • Plunger: Plungers suck up blockages in your drains. If you’re not up for a persistent and patience-taking job, leave the plungers and leave it to the experts.

  • Chemicals: If the baking soda, salt, and vinegar combination solutions don’t work, the locally purchased chemical de-clogging product is your last option. Follow the recommended amount in the instructional pamphlet of the product and then pour it down the drain. Let it sit overnight or how long the instructional pamphlet says so. Run boiling water as a finishing touch.

Taking care of Blocked Drains

To avoid the hassle of blocked drains, preventing a clog is a must. Also, to not further aggravate your blocked drain problem, there are ways to take care of blocked drains before the help of Mr. Drains arrives. These are the things that you could do:

  • Clean your drain every month: Keep a free-flowing zone inside your drains by cleaning it every month with chemical-free de-clogging solutions.

  • Flush water in your toilets correctly: Don’t flush unnecessary trash in your toilets such as diapers, sanitary pads, tissues, and more. Flushing is strictly for human excrements.

  • Don’t pour oil, grease, or any food debris in your sink. The oil and grease will coat the insides of your pipes, which eventually clogs it. Food will obviously clog your pipes for some time.

  • Don’t plant or situate any plants near sewer lines: Plants can get really nasty to sewer lines because their roots constantly grow and move to find water. When a root stretches its hands to the sewer line, best believe it that that sewer line would crack open.

  • Use a drain guard: This is the simplest yet effective way of taking care of your pipes. Drain guards are filter-like devices that you secure on your drainage holes to prevent solid things such as food and hair, from entering pipes.

  • Have your drains inspected by professionals for at least every three years.

When to Call the nation’s Drain Clearance Specialists

Take these situations as cues to call us:

  • When your cute home methods don’t work anymore: It’s a natural reaction to fix the problem first before seeking professional help. However, when your first aids don’t work, you might be facing a bigger drainage problem that calls for a drainage agency.

  • When your pipe problem recurs: When the same problems recur, it’s time to pick up that phone and seek professional help. The problem might need an intensive and permanent solution that homemade solutions can’t offer.

  • When it’s a septic problem: When the problem lies in the sewage or septic system, it’s time to call the big guys. Below are some of the common signs of a septic issue:

    • Water and sewage backing up
    • Gurgling noise
    • Flooding
    • Stinky smell that seems permanent
    • Drains draining slowly
  • If it’s an emergency: There are pipe situations that call for immediate help because the problem escalated quickly.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. We contacted MR Drains Ltd and spoke with a their reception team who advised the person we needed to speak to was on the other line, but he’d call back within 5 minutes, which he did.

Unbeatable on price, speed and efficiency. A total breeze organising and completing the job with Matt. Very reasonably priced and we were even charged £5 less than quoted, which rarely happens. Honest.
